D2’s project management function can help assess and improve an organisation’s in-house project management capability to significantly reduce their exposure to risk whilst maximising project success. In the delivery of complex projects, D2 has supported major programmes of work, providing high quality project managers to successfully manage all stages of the project lifecycle.

Project delivery

D2 can provide high quality project managers who have the right collaborative behaviours. This can be from the entry level Assistant Project Manager all the way to a senior leader able to manage complex ‘mega projects’ known as a Project/Programme Director.   The offering can be a full service offering in terms of D2 leading a particular project management framework/Lot; or it can be supporting an organisation in bolstering their project management team.  D2 specialises in providing project management services in client-based organisations such as Network Rail, but these skills can equally be applied within the supply chain.

Because D2 has a much wider offering for project management support, D2 can also provide a full composite project team to manage the full project lifecycle of a complex project from start to finish.  This includes but not limited to: schedulers, risk managers, planners, documental controllers, utilities specialists, project control specialists and wider constructability support.

Maturity assessments

D2 use their planning and delivery expertise and experience to conduct a maturity assessment and gap analysis of an organisation’s project management capability.  The maturity model is a bespoke model developed by D2 which is focused on reducing an organisations exposure to risk and the associated financial implications this can have to the business.

The output of the maturity assessment will be a series of recommendations, actions and training requirements to help guide an organisation as to how they can improve their project management maturity to minimise their risk when delivering against a contract.  

Development of in-house project management capability

In terms of developing an organisation’s in-house PM capability D2 can lead or support an organisation in terms of their:

  • Developing a PM Handbook to define the processes and templates
  • Provide project management training
  • Develop a full project management competency framework
  • Setting up the organisation’s project management SharePoint site or shared area to provide a single source of truth

In addition to the above, D2 can help an organisation market these new skills by guaranteeing them to achieve Corporate Accreditation with the APM demonstrating external accreditation in project management.
